A new controversy has emerged around Michigan Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed, as his half-sister, Eman Abdelhadi, has been linked to the Muslim Brotherhood and has written a novel depicting a violent future for Israel. The novel, titled The Final Intifada, is described as a fictional account of guerrilla operations and mass violence against Israel between 2030 and 2038.

Violent Imagery in a Novel

In her book, a fictional character named Hassan recounts a violent border breach, describing it as the ‘most beautiful day of my life’ as he and others bomb military outposts and use Molotov cocktails. The narrative suggests a future where global boycotts cripple the Israeli economy, leading to a breakdown in security and widespread bloodshed.

Family Ties to the Muslim Brotherhood

Abdelhadi’s own public statements reveal a deep connection to the Muslim Brotherhood. In 2012, she posted that her family had long been part of the organization, and she described her mother’s activism in the group during the early 1970s. Federal court records link her mother, Fatten Elkomy, to wire transfers between 1999 and 2002, while she worked for the Islamic American Relief Agency (IARA-USA), which was later designated as a terrorist organization.

El-Sayed Denies Allegations

El-Sayed has dismissed the scrutiny as Islamophobic, calling the allegations ‘bad faith attacks.’ However, his own history includes signing a 2012 open letter urging Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood to ‘purge the media and police,’ and public support for former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, a prominent Brotherhood leader.

Broader Scrutiny of El-Sayed’s Background

The controversy has extended to his father-in-law, who has held leadership roles at ISNA and CAIR, both of which were previously linked to the Holy Land Foundation, a group implicated in terror financing. These connections have raised further questions about the integrity of El-Sayed’s campaign and his suitability for public office.
