Federal agents from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) executed a judicially authorized search warrant at the Washington, DC-area home of Rep. Ilhan Omar on Monday morning as part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation into her immigration paperwork. The operation, first reported by Fox News Digital, began around 6 a.m., with agents in HSI jackets observed outside the residence and footage showing them carrying boxes of evidence over several hours.

A Department of Justice spokesperson confirmed the search was conducted under a judicially authorized warrant. The DOJ later clarified the probe is criminal in nature, focusing on fraud related to immigration documents filled out by Omar’s late father when she was a child.

Mike Davis, founder of the Article III Project and former Senate Judiciary Committee counsel, cited the DC U.S. District Court’s public website to note that Magistrate Judge Matthew J. Sharbaugh signed the search warrant. Sharbaugh, appointed in October 2024, was on criminal duty from October 3 through October 16, 2026, the period covering the raid. He was selected by the Democrat-controlled DC federal court and previously clerked for Obama-appointed Judge Robert L. Wilkin.

In Steve Bannon’s War Room, Mike Davis explained the gravity of the warrant. “What a search warrant of a home means is that an Article III judge has determined that there’s probable cause that evidence of a crime will be found in that home,” Davis said. “You have a federal judge in DC signing off on this search warrant at Ilhan Omar’s home. It was an investigation by the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice. … There’s at least a federal judge [who] at least thinks it’s more likely than not that there’s evidence of a federal crime inside that home. … Judges do not do home raids lightly.”

Davis also highlighted the significance of the venue, noting that the D.C. District Court has long been stacked with Obama- and Biden-appointed judges who have been among the most aggressive in anti-Trump rulings. Obtaining a home-search warrant there is no small feat. He added that the case appears tied to potential immigration fraud surrounding how Omar arrived in the country and became a naturalized citizen.

These are all allegations. Nothing has been proved,” Davis cautioned. “This is simply the first step when you do a home raid like this.”
