U.S. federal agents have arrested dozens of foreign nationals for voting in the days leading up to Election Day, as the Trump administration intensifies efforts to secure the ballot box. The Justice Department announced Monday that 63 individuals, including four illegal immigrants and numerous foreign nationals, had been charged with election-related crimes, including illegal voting in past elections and fraudulent voter registration. These arrests span the entire country, involving individuals from Latin America to the Middle East.
Justice Department Commits to Combating Voter Fraud
Attorney General Todd Blanche stated that the arrests represent the largest surge of voter-fraud cases since President Trump returned to office. He emphasized that these foreign nationals allegedly exploited public trust and violated election laws. The Department of Justice pledged to continue investigating and prosecuting voter fraud to restore confidence in the electoral system.
Failed Legislation and Escalated Enforcement
The arrests follow the Trump administration’s unsuccessful push to pass the SAVE America Act, which would have required proof of citizenship for voting in federal elections. Despite pressure from President Trump, the bill did not pass through the Republican-controlled Senate.
Arrests Across 25 States and Diverse Nationalities
Over the past nine weeks, 195 foreign nationals have been arrested across 25 states for election-related offenses. These individuals include lawful permanent residents from countries such as Mexico, Nigeria, Guatemala, Italy, Kenya, Bermuda, Singapore, Jamaica, Colombia, the United Kingdom, Canada, the Netherlands, Cuba, Barbados, Argentina, the Dominican Republic, France, St. Kitts and Nevis, Honduras, Germany, Iraq, India, Afghanistan, Israel, Samoa, Sudan, Congo, the Philippines, Iran, Finland, and Portugal.
Notable Cases and Charges
A 52-year-old woman from Kenya, Elizabeth Margaret Crudup, has been registered to vote since 2008 and has participated in nine general elections, including 2024, 2022, 2020, and others. She was charged with falsely claiming citizenship to vote and voting as an alien. Similarly, Gregory Eugene Wade, a 64-year-old from Bermuda, has voted in multiple elections since 2000 and was also charged with illegal voting. Mahyar Nikzad, a lawful permanent resident from Iran, was arrested for making false statements on his naturalization application and falsely claiming citizenship to vote.
Continued Monitoring and Public Encouragement
As Election Day approaches, the Justice Department has deployed election monitors across all 50 states and encourages citizens to report any suspicious activity or suspected voter fraud.
