War Secretary Pete Hegseth has announced that the public execution of Fort Hood terrorist Nidal Hasan will take place on December 3, mirroring the details of his 2009 deadly attack. The execution, which will be conducted by a firing squad of soldiers, is set to occur at Fort Hood on a Thursday at 1 p.m., matching the day and time of the original attack.

Public Viewing and Symbolic Justice

Hegseth emphasized the importance of public viewing, stating, “We’ll make sure that people are able to watch it.” He explained that the decision to hold the execution at Fort Hood, on the same day and time as the attack, was symbolic of the severity of the crime and the justice that must be served. “An Army Major betrays his country, radical Islamist, kills a bunch of Americans at Fort Hood — of course we’re going to do it at Fort Hood,” he said.

Historical Context and Political Messaging

Hegseth also highlighted the historical significance of the execution, noting that it has not occurred since World War II. He referenced the “WIN” mentality from that era, which stood for “When the enemy attacks you, you stand your ground.” This statement was made in contrast to former President Barack Obama’s description of Hasan’s attack as “workplace violence,” which Hegseth criticized as a mischaracterization of the event.

Hasan’s Crime and Legal Outcome

Nidal Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, opened fire at Fort Hood in 2009, killing 13 people and wounding over 30 others while shouting “Allahu Akbar.” His attack was a radical Islamist terror act that shocked the nation. In 2013, Hasan was sentenced to death for his crimes, and the execution has now been scheduled to take place on December 3.

Rejection of Special Requests

When asked about any special requests Hasan may have made, Hegseth made it clear that the military would not be swayed. “Don’t care. We’ll see him on December 3rd,” he said, underscoring the military’s commitment to upholding justice and the rule of law.
