French MP Links Youth Riots to Unassimilated Immigration

French Member of the European Parliament Marion Maréchal has linked the recent wave of youth riots across France to the failure to assimilate immigrant groups into French culture. The demonstrations, which have now entered their first month, have seen widespread violence and chaos despite thousands of arrests.
Maréchal, a prominent figure in the Identité-Libertés group, criticized the media and political establishment for avoiding discussions on the root causes of the unrest. She argued that the issues are not solely related to education but stem from broader immigration challenges and the inability to integrate foreign populations, including those born in France, into the national culture.
Violence and Arrests Continue
Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu reported that 937 police officers and gendarmes, 149 school staff, and 248 students have been injured in the violent demonstrations. Meanwhile, Minister of National Education Édouard Geffray revealed that 7,950 people, including 6,773 minors, have been arrested during the protests.
Maréchal suggested that the violence is not a mere byproduct but a tool used by the far-left to advance their Marxist agenda. She pointed to the role of far-left groups like La France Insoumise, which she claims has manipulated student groups into rioting.
International Perspectives on the Crisis
Others have echoed similar concerns, including U.S. President Donald Trump, who recently stated that the riots are a result of out-of-control mass migration. Sarah Knafo, a Reconquête MEP, highlighted the connection between the protests and the presence of immigrant flags and chants of ‘in the name of Allah,’ calling it the ‘elephant in the room’ that journalists ignore.
Knafo has also supported the ‘vandals pay’ proposal, which aims to impose fines on participants in violent riots, including those who may not have caused direct damage. She has vowed to deduct the fines from the paychecks of ‘thugs’ and their families.
