Israeli PM Vows Justice After Plane Hijacking Attempt

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed that those behind the attempted hijacking of a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv will face severe consequences. The incident, which was thwarted by passengers, has revealed deep-rooted Islamist radicalization in the suspected perpetrator.
Extremist’s Social Media Reveals Radical Ideology
According to Israeli officials, the Omani co-pilot accused in the hijacking was deeply committed to jihadist ideology and discussed ‘killing Jews’ on social media. The hijacker, who stabbed the Indian pilot, was stopped by passengers who stormed the cockpit and subdued him.
Netanyahu emphasized that the attacker was planning to crash the plane with all its passengers on board. ‘As time passes, the picture is becoming clearer,’ he said. ‘The attacker underwent Islamist radicalization. We are now investigating whether he was sent, and whoever sent him will pay a very heavy price.’
Passengers Save Lives in Courageous Act
The flight, carrying 174 passengers including at least 20 children, was saved by the bravery of several Israeli passengers. One passenger, Yaniv Hayun, described how they managed to open the cockpit door and overpower the hijacker.
‘The door apparently wasn’t locked, and we managed to open it,’ Hayun told reporters. ‘What made it difficult for us was the [Indian] pilot himself. He had been stabbed and was on the other side of the door.’
One passenger recounted how they used headphone cords to incapacitate the hijacker. ‘We jumped on the pilot with force and tied him up using headphones,’ the passenger said.
Officials Confirm Suicide Mission
An Israeli official confirmed that the hijacking was likely a suicide mission. ‘This was a person who was willing to commit suicide,’ the official told The Times of Israel. ‘His social media accounts say clearly that he has been radicalized into jihadist ideology.’
The suspected terrorist was transferred to the United Arab Emirates for questioning. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that the hijacker aimed to crash the aircraft with all its passengers aboard.
‘The serious incident aboard the Flydubai aircraft was an attempted jihadist terrorist attack, which was thwarted only thanks to the bravery of several Israeli passengers who broke into the cockpit, overpowered the terrorist, and with their own hands returned control of the aircraft to an additional flight crew that was present there,’ Katz said.
