A leaked internal memo has exposed the radical tactics behind former New York City comptroller and Democratic congressional nominee Brad Lander’s recent trip to Judea and Samaria, revealing it was organized by a far-left group seeking to demonize Israel. The Washington Free Beacon obtained the document, marked “do not share or circulate,” which was produced by “Protect the Harvest,” the organization behind the trip. The memo, spanning three pages, is described as a far-left fever dream, with the term “ethnic cleansing” used a dozen times and the “genocidal” blood libel applied to Israel’s actions in Gaza.
Political Theater and Reckless Actions
Lander, who ousted Rep. Dan Goldman in this year’s Democratic primary, entered a restricted security area without coordination, leading to his detention by Israeli forces. On social media, he claimed to have been “detained” by the Israel Defense Forces, before being released with a warning hours later. Israeli officials and a former U.S. ambassador criticized the incident as “reckless political theater,” with the Foreign Ministry stating that Lander’s team had been explicitly warned about the need for coordination with local authorities.
A Pattern of Anti-Israel Behavior
The memo is the latest evidence of Lander’s willingness to prioritize anti-Israel activism over diplomatic considerations. His foreign policy misadventures follow a pattern, including his recent appearance at a mosque where an imam had reportedly prayed for the “killing of infidels by [the] sword.” At the event, Lander accused Israel of genocide in Gaza and warned that the situation in Lebanon could lead to a genocide. He also vowed not to support U.S. military aid to Israel and expressed a desire to build partnerships with critics of Israel in Congress.
Social Media and Radical Campaigning
Lander’s campaign has also promoted sanctions on companies providing banking services and building materials to Jerusalem’s suburbs, a category that includes many mainstream Israeli firms. His strategy appears to be one of bashing Israel, playing the victim, and courting the radical Left. As the Free Beacon points out, his actions highlight a troubling trend among some Democratic politicians who prioritize ideological alignment with anti-Israel activists over national interests.
