Tragic Fall From 15th-Floor Balcony
Carrasco is accused of pushing his girlfriend, Nathaly Ramirez, 23, and their eight-month-old daughter, Angel Novalty Carrasco-Ramirez, off a 15th-floor balcony early Tuesday. Ramirez died from the fall, while the infant remains hospitalized at Jacobi Medical Center. Law enforcement confirmed that the child is still in critical but stable condition.
According to police, Carrasco arrived at Ramirez’s apartment with flowers, hoping to reconcile after being arrested twice at the location for domestic violence. When his attempts to reconcile failed, he allegedly pushed Ramirez and the baby off the balcony before fleeing the scene.
Neighbors Describe the Tragic Moment
Robin Mendzies, a neighbor of Ramirez, told The New York Post that she heard a man shouting, ‘Jump!’ before a loud thud and a woman wailing, ‘No, please, no!’ as Ramirez begged for her daughter’s safety in her final moments.
Dominique Rosado, Ramirez’s high school friend, described her as a devoted mother who ‘was protecting her daughter in the last moment of her life.’ Rosado called Ramirez a ‘good mother,’ emphasizing the tragedy of the loss.
Legal History and Previous Charges
Carrasco was previously arrested at Ramirez’s apartment in January and charged with third-degree assault after allegedly slapping her for complaining about his calls to an ex-girlfriend. Three days later, he was charged with breaking into the apartment and waiting for Ramirez to return.
He also had a prior arrest for sending threatening texts to another ex-girlfriend and two additional arrests for unrelated offenses, highlighting a pattern of domestic violence and legal issues in his history.
Arrest and Current Status
Local law enforcement and U.S. Marshals apprehended Carrasco on Wednesday evening. His case continues to draw public attention, with many calling for justice and accountability for the tragic loss of Ramirez and her child.
