A Canadian medical plane carrying six people vanished early Saturday morning while en route from Bermuda to Boston, prompting a search by U.S. authorities. The Gulfstream G-100 departed Bermuda around 12:40 a.m. and lost communication with the FAA shortly after 1:20 a.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

Communication Breakdown and Search Efforts

Air Traffic Control audio captured the moments before the plane vanished, revealing the pilot and controller had difficulty communicating. The controller reported trouble hearing the pilots and asked them to repeat their messages, including altitude, several times. When the plane stopped responding, the controller attempted to reach the aircraft using a nearby Ethiopian Airlines jet, but there was no response.

The U.S. Coast Guard is currently searching the waters off Massachusetts for the missing aircraft. The FAA issued a Search and Rescue alert after losing contact with the plane. The Bermuda Skyport Corporation confirmed the Canadian-registered plane took off from LF Wade International Airport with four crew members and two passengers at around 12:41 a.m. on Saturday.

Emergency Declaration and Response

The air ambulance jet was in contact with New York controllers when it declared an emergency, according to air traffic audio obtained by ABC News. Despite repeated attempts to communicate, the plane eventually stopped responding, raising concerns about its fate. No Americans were on the doomed plane, according to ABC News.

The incident highlights the challenges of maintaining communication with aircraft in distress, especially during long-haul flights. As the search continues, authorities remain focused on locating the missing aircraft and determining the cause of the communication loss. The case underscores the importance of air traffic control systems and emergency protocols in ensuring the safety of all passengers and crew.
