Prince Andrew, the former Duke of York, has initiated legal action against Thames Valley Police, challenging the lawfulness of search warrants used to raid his residences in connection with an Epstein-related investigation. The case, which involves a judicial review, has been granted by a high court judge, with a private High Court hearing scheduled for Thursday to determine whether documents related to the review should be released.
According to The Telegraph, detectives spent several days at Mountbatten-Windsor’s properties, removing documents and other items as part of their investigation. His legal team is challenging the legality of the warrants obtained from the Central Criminal Court. The prince was arrested on suspicion of committing misconduct in public office on the day of his 66th birthday, shortly after material from the Epstein files appeared to suggest he may have shared sensitive information.
Mountbatten-Windsor has consistently denied any wrongdoing. Thames Valley Police stated in a statement, according to The Telegraph, that the investigation into misconduct in public office continues alongside the legal proceedings. This marks the first time a member of the Royal family has challenged the lawfulness of criminal proceedings against them since the 1649 trial of Charles I.
King Charles’ younger brother Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has launched legal action against police in England over his arrest earlier this year on suspicion of misconduct in public office following revelations from the Epstein files in the United States. https://t.co/UuWvywppSX
