Russian forces struck Kyiv’s Northern Bridge early Saturday, damaging the road surface and trolleybus cables, causing traffic suspensions and long tailbacks for a third consecutive day. The attack, which Moscow claims is aimed at disrupting Ukrainian military logistics, marks another escalation in the ongoing conflict.

Escalating Attacks on Ukrainian Infrastructure

The strike follows previous Russian assaults that have forced the full or partial closure of three of Kyiv’s six road bridges over the Dnipro River. In the past, Russia has targeted apartment blocks, supermarket warehouses, gas stations, and data centers, further destabilizing the capital.

Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko confirmed the damage to the bridge, stating there were no casualties reported. Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed the bridge is used to “facilitate troop movements and the logistics of military cargo deliveries” for Ukraine’s armed forces.

War Intensifies with Aerial and Ground Attacks

The aerial war has intensified, with Kyiv striking Russia’s oil industry and businesses while Moscow has menaced Ukrainian cities with hard-to-intercept ballistic missiles and jet-powered drones. Moldovan President Maia Sandu warned that the war is “dangerously reaching” her country, following airspace incursions by Russian attack weapons.

Ukraine’s air force reported that Moscow launched Banderol cruise missiles at the Odesa region, which shares a long land border with Moldova. These loitering munitions are designed to hover over an area, searching for targets, and detonate while crashing into them.

Damage and Casualties Reported in Russia

Meanwhile, people were injured after Ukrainian drones struck the city of Kaluga in western Russia, damaging apartment buildings. Regional Gov. Vladislav Shapsha reported that 13 drones were shot down over the region during the night.

As the conflict continues, both sides are escalating their military efforts, with Kyiv facing increasing pressure from Moscow’s advanced weaponry and strategic targeting of key infrastructure.
