A 28-year-old man from Corpus Christi, Texas, was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol agents after being found operating a speedboat with three illegal aliens, firearms, and four pipe bombs. The arrest occurred in Port Mansfield on October 6, following a tip from local police about three individuals boarding a boat after exiting a vehicle nearby.
Arrest and Search
Border Patrol agents tracked the speedboat, which was later identified as one previously operated by Alec Ray Foss. During a search, agents found three male passengers, later confirmed to be two Ecuadorians and one Guatemalan national, illegally present in the U.S. The search also uncovered an AR-style rifle, a handgun, and four suspected pipe bombs.
Legal Charges and Past Involvement
Foss, according to court documents, admitted to expecting $3,000 per illegal alien for transport to Houston. The U.S. Attorney’s Office noted that Foss had a prior arrest in 2023 for transporting illegal aliens, which was later dropped. The case now includes charges for transporting illegal aliens with life endangerment, potentially leading to up to 20 years in prison.
ATF Investigation and Search
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) is investigating the pipe bombs found on the boat. On October 8, ATF executed a search warrant at Foss’s residence, seizing five firearms, 3,500 rounds of ammunition, and materials used to construct pipe bombs.
