President Trump on Thursday condemned Democrats’ threats to impeach Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, following the firing of Army Lieutenant General Brett Sylvia, the Pentagon’s top military planner, for leaking classified information.

Leak Leads to Firing of Top Military Planner

Hegseth ordered the firing of Sylvia from the Joint Chiefs of Staff after he was found to have leaked classified information on the Iran and Russia-Ukraine wars. A Department of War official told The Gateway Pundit’s Jordan Conradson that Sylvia was fired for “severe misconduct,” including leaking classified information.

Sylvia also circumvented the Pentagon’s new media policy by “meeting with journalists outside of the Pentagon in order to leak classified information.” He now faces a criminal referral to the Department of Justice.

A reporter asked President Trump about Democrats’ threats to impeach Hegseth. Trump responded by criticizing the party for threatening everyone with impeachment.

“I think it’s terrible. All they do is they talk about impeaching everybody. I mean, honestly, if we wanted to play that game, we could play it just as well,” Trump said.

Trump also defended Hegseth, calling him “a great warrior” and stating that “he’s the best at his job in many years, and a lot of people agree with it.”

“We’re very much looking for leakers,” Trump added when asked about Hegseth’s latest firing, indicating the administration’s ongoing efforts to address internal security threats.

Democrats Threaten Impeachment Amid Firing

Democrats are threatening to impeach Hegseth if they seize control of the House. Trump dismissed these threats, suggesting that the party’s approach to impeachment is a political tactic rather than a genuine attempt at accountability.

“They’re talking about Pete Hegseth. He’s doing a great job,” Trump said, reiterating his support for Hegseth and the administration’s handling of the situation.

The firing of Sylvia highlights the administration’s focus on maintaining national security and addressing leaks within the military. Trump’s comments reflect a broader strategy of defending his appointees and countering Democratic criticisms.
