President Donald Trump confirmed reports of a foiled terrorist attack at the UK’s Royal Air Force (RAF) Fairford base, where U.S. bombers and troops are stationed for operations against Iran. The base has been a key location for the U.S. military’s bombing campaign against Iran, and the incident has raised concerns about security in the region.

According to the Telegraph, British counterterrorism police are investigating whether Iran was behind the plot. Trump praised the joint efforts with Britain to stop the attack, stating that the suspects had been under surveillance for a long time. “The arrest in the UK was fantastic. Working with Britain, it was an amazing job. We had them under investigation,” Trump said during a press briefing on Sunday.

Details of the Plot

Trump noted that the suspects were allegedly planning to cause significant damage to U.S. ports. “They were looking to do big damage to our port, and working with the British worked out great,” he added. He also mentioned that Scotland Yard may have been involved in the investigation, though he did not confirm this.

Aerial footage captured by a news helicopter showed an explosive ordnance disposal robot operating near what is believed to be the vans used by the suspected terrorists. The vans, which were suspected of carrying chemicals and explosives, were reported traveling toward the air base. Five suspects were photographed in British police detention following the incident.

Security Concerns and Ongoing Investigations

The incident has prompted renewed scrutiny of security measures at the RAF Fairford base, which has been a focal point for U.S. military operations in the region. The British police have not yet released official details about the suspects or the nature of the plot, but the involvement of explosives has raised alarm.

As reported by The Gateway Pundit, British police have made several arrests in connection with the plot. The involvement of explosives has led to charges under the Explosives Act, highlighting the severity of the threat. The case is currently under investigation, with authorities emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in countering terrorism.
