President Donald Trump is set to deliver a pivotal speech in Georgia on Friday, emphasizing his record on border security and the fight against transnational gangs as he seeks to bolster Republican candidates in the upcoming midterm elections.

Targeting Illegal Immigration and Gangs

In his speech at Dalton Municipal Airport, Trump will focus on his administration’s efforts to secure the border and combat illegal immigration, particularly highlighting the impact of Tren de Aragua, a violent gang linked to multiple crimes in the United States.

According to a White House official, Trump’s administration has made significant strides in dismantling the gang, which has been responsible for numerous violent incidents, including the tragic killing of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley. The official noted that the Trump administration’s crackdown has led to the largest decrease in violent crime in American history.

Georgia: A Key Battleground

Dalton, where Trump will be speaking, has a population of nearly 55% Hispanic and 29% foreign-born, according to U.S. Census data. This demographic profile makes the city a critical area for the Republican campaign, especially as the midterm elections approach.

Trump’s speech is part of a broader strategy to support Republican candidates in Georgia, including Rick Jackson and Mike Collins, both of whom are running for office in a state that is considered a key battleground for the 2024 elections.

Task Force and Arrests

Since taking office, Trump created the Homeland Security Task Force, which has been instrumental in targeting gangs and transnational criminal organizations that have entered the U.S. under the Biden administration. The task force has led to the arrest of over 1,296 members of Tren de Aragua between January 20, 2025, and October 8, 2026, with many of these arrests occurring in Georgia.

Among those arrested are individuals with extensive criminal histories, including Jared Adonay Cruz Rivera, a Honduran illegal alien arrested in April for armed robbery and aggravated assault. Other arrests include members from Venezuela, Guatemala, and El Salvador, all of whom have been linked to violent crimes.

Trump’s focus on these issues is part of a broader effort to position himself as a strong leader on national security and law enforcement, aiming to rally support among voters who prioritize these concerns.
