President Donald Trump provided an update on the status of the reflecting pool at the National Mall, which has been undergoing repairs following vandalism incidents. The pool, which was drained to address damage caused by vandals, is now nearly complete, according to Trump. He confirmed that the repairs are almost finished and that the pool is set to be refilled soon.

Vandalism and Legal Response

Trump highlighted the vandalism that occurred over the summer, describing the perpetrators as ‘sick people.’ Surveillance footage, which he previously shared, showed suspects allegedly tearing out the blue sealant lining the pool. Despite video evidence, US Attorney Jeanine Pirro declined to prosecute the individuals involved.

Journalist Credits and Future Plans

Trump also acknowledged the efforts of independent journalist Emily Miller, who reported on the vandalism and was thanked in a Truth Social post. He praised Miller for her work and called her ‘absolutely fantastic.’ Miller previously captured footage of former Olympian David Hearn’s arrest for vandalizing the pool.

Trump emphasized that the pool is now ‘vandal-proof’ and that the grass on the National Mall, which had been defaced with ‘8647’ inscriptions, has been replaced. He also confirmed his intention to visit the site once the repairs are complete.

Public Response and Security Measures

Trump reiterated that the pool is now fully repaired and that the old pipes have been replaced. He stated that the project was completed earlier than planned, with the goal of having the pool ready for July 4th. Trump expressed confidence that the site is secure and that the vandals will not be able to cause further damage.
