The annual winter ball in Crépol, a small village in the Drôme region of southeastern France, was abruptly turned into a scene of chaos when a group of outsiders allegedly stormed the dance hall. The attackers, reportedly from the multicultural La Monnaie neighborhood of the nearby commune of Romans-sur-Isère, launched a violent assault, stabbing over a dozen people.
Legal Proceedings and Charges
After years of legal proceedings, two investigating judges issued an indictment against 12 defendants. Eleven of the accused are juveniles charged with the murder of Perotto and the attempted murder of three others. A 12th defendant, a repeat offender, faces aggravated assault with a firearm. The judges included the aggravating circumstance of anti-white and anti-French racism in all charges.

The ruling was based on statements from 19 eyewitnesses and one defendant, who reported offensive remarks directed at white people and the French nation. Witnesses claimed the attackers shouted, “We are here to stab white people!” before the violence escalated.
