‘The best antidote to a mean question from the press is a really good, well-founded answer,’ Tillis said. ‘Bring it on. Ask me the questions. I’m going to have an answer.’ He emphasized the need for Hegseth to gain confidence in his mission and secure support from Congress to bolster public backing for the war effort.
Support for Middle East Security
Tillis reiterated the importance of the current military strategy, stating that the United States aims to eliminate Iran’s nuclear capabilities, secure Israel’s future, and make the Middle East safer. However, he expressed frustration that the effort lacks public support, which he believes is essential for success.
‘We want to eliminate Iran’s capability to have a nuclear weapon. We want to make the Middle East safer. We want to secure Israel’s future,’ Tillis said. ‘But the effort that we have before us now does not have the support of the American people. And we need that. And with that, we will be successful.’
