Marine Johnny ‘Joey’ Jones, a bomb technician who lost both legs in Afghanistan, condemned leftist streamer Hasan Piker for mocking the tragic deaths of two Navy SEALs during a recent appearance on Fox News’ ‘The Big Weekend Show.’
The incident came after video surfaced of Piker laughing about the January 2024 drownings of Chief Special Warfare Operator Christopher J. Chambers, 37, and Special Warfare Operator 1st Class Nathan Gage Ingram, 27. The two SEALs, members of SEAL Team 3, perished off the coast of Somalia while attempting to seize an unflagged vessel carrying Iranian-made missile parts for Houthi terrorists.
Piker’s comments during a livestream included mocking the SEALs’ fate, saying, ‘I think SEALs have to swim sometimes. Yeah like those two SEALs that tripped and fell off the f*cking ladder and died and drowned in the Red Sea.’ His callous remarks drew sharp criticism from Jones, who called for a ‘bonafide a**-whooping’ for Piker.
Military investigations later revealed the harrowing details of the incident: Chambers slipped off a slippery ladder while weighed down by nearly 50 pounds of equipment in 8-foot seas. Ingram, on his first deployment, selflessly jumped into the dark ocean to save his drowning teammate while carrying 80 pounds of gear. Both men sank and were declared lost at sea after a 10-day search covering 49,000 square nautical miles.
For Jones, who lost both legs to an IED explosion in Afghanistan that killed his fellow Marine Daniel Greer, Piker’s remarks represent a profound lack of respect for American sacrifice. Speaking at a patriotic event in July 2025, Jones emphasized that ‘patriotism is sacrifice,’ highlighting the personal cost of serving one’s country.
Jones, medically retired from the Corps in 2012, reenlisted in the Marine Corps Reserve in May 2026. ‘If there’s an opportunity for me to serve, there’s no reason why a no-legged 40-year-old staff sergeant should be able to put the uniform on,’ he said. ‘Other than these men believed it. And the goal here is to open that door for anyone else that has something left to give.’
