U.S. officials assert the caravan has no chance of reaching the U.S. border, citing secure border policies and international cooperation.

U.S. Homeland Security Department (DHS) officials have claimed that a new Honduran migrant caravan has ‘zero chance’ of reaching the U.S. border, asserting that the border remains secure and that any attempts to illegally enter the country will be intercepted and removed. The statement comes as the caravan, calling itself ‘Fe y Esperanza’ or ‘Faith and Hope,’ continues its journey from Honduras through Mexico toward the U.S.
Caravan Details and Movement
The caravan, which left San Pedro Sula, Honduras, on September 20, includes migrants from Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Ecuador, Haiti, and possibly Cuba. It reached Tapachula, Mexico, with an estimated 300 people, and grew to around 600 after more migrants joined. The group is now traveling along the coastal highway from Tapachula, facing challenging weather conditions from Tropical Storm Rachel.
DHS Response and Border Security
DHS has stated that the Border Patrol is actively tracking the caravan and working closely with international partners. Officials emphasized that under the leadership of former President Donald Trump and Secretary Kevin Mullin, the border has remained closed and secure for 16 consecutive months, with no illegal aliens released into the country. The department also claimed that the ‘days of catch and release’ are over, and any illegal entries will be apprehended, prosecuted, and removed.
International Cooperation and Predictions
White House spokeswoman Lauren Bis reiterated the message that the caravan will not be allowed into the U.S., stating that the border is closed to lawbreakers. A DHS source told Breitbart that the group is likely to be broken up in southern Mexico, similar to previous caravans. Despite the size of the caravan, officials believe the odds of it reaching the U.S. border are highly unlikely.
As the caravan moves closer to the U.S., DHS has issued a ‘huge migrant caravan’ alert and posted a video featuring former NFL player Brian Dawkins, which was later challenged by the NFL. Despite the controversy, the department has continued to emphasize its lockdown defense strategy.
