Actor Robert Pattinson was reportedly bribed with 200 canisters of Zyn, a nicotine pouch product, to star in the A24 film ‘Primetime,’ according to new details. Initially, Pattinson was only planning to serve as a producer, but screenwriter Ajon Singh revised the script to convince him to take the lead role. Director Lance Oppenheim then devised a unique incentive, sending the canisters to Pattinson’s home in Los Angeles.

Director’s Unique Bribe

Oppenheim, who is known for his unconventional methods, sent the revised script along with a letter addressed to ‘Dear Chris Han-Zyn,’ referencing Pattinson’s reported Zyn addiction. The director explained that due to a U.S. shortage of the product, he had a friend in Canada ship the canisters to Pattinson. This gesture, according to Oppenheim, was enough to convince the actor to take on the role.

Mixed Reactions to the Film

‘Primetime’ has generated Oscar buzz and was a commercial success, but its portrayal of Chris Hansen, the host of ‘To Catch a Predator,’ as a villain has drawn mixed reviews. Hansen, who was depicted as the antagonist in the film, has criticized the movie for distorting his true story. He claimed that A24 ‘exploited’ his experiences for dramatic effect, calling the film a ‘hit piece’ on him and his work.

Hansen, who has been a vocal advocate for child safety, described the film as ‘so detached from reality’ that he questioned its purpose. He emphasized that the show’s mission was to expose predators, not to create fictional drama. Despite the controversy, Hansen is currently working on his own documentary, ‘I Am Chris Hansen,’ which he described as a project that was in the works long before ‘Primetime’ was conceived.
