Adam Brody, known for his role as a rabbi on Netflix’s hit comedy “Nobody Wants This,” has publicly voiced his support for Palestine, calling the war in Gaza a “genocide” during a recent interview with GQ. Brody, who has been vocal about his personal views on the Israel-Gaza conflict, expressed hope that a new administration could address the ongoing crisis.

Brody’s Stance on Gaza

In a September 25 interview with GQ, Brody shared his perspective on the conflict, stating, “I have spoken a lot about it privately. I haven’t spoken much about it publicly.” He clarified, “Put me down as thinking it’s a genocide. Put me down as wanting a free Palestine.” Brody emphasized the need for change, saying, “It’s awful that it’s taken so much death and misery, but it does feel like it’s reaching a breaking point that it should have a while ago.” He added, “I’m hopeful that another administration can really do some good and correct some of these policies that are helping that situation be as awful as it is.” Brody also mentioned that he doesn’t speak out about his political views unless directly asked.

Showrunner Defends Judaism

Erin Foster, the showrunner of “Nobody Wants This,” has publicly disagreed with Brody’s stance. Foster, who has been a strong advocate for Jewish representation in media, said, “While I love Adam, I also disagree with him. And that’s ok.” She acknowledged the complexity of the situation, stating, “I think our work environment, our set, is very similar to dinner tables around the world where people are having debate and discussion and disagreeing.” Foster emphasized, “I think that as the creator of the show, all I can say is that I want our Jewish fans to know that I see you and I hear you and I understand how you feel.” She added, “The show has always been and always will be a love letter to Judaism.” Foster concluded, “That is why I made this show. It’s because of how beautiful of an experience I’ve had becoming Jewish and being a Jewish person.”

Public Discourse on the Conflict

The public discourse around the Israel-Gaza conflict continues to evolve, with figures like Brody and Foster representing different perspectives. Brody’s willingness to voice his opinion has sparked conversations about the role of celebrities in political discourse. Meanwhile, Foster’s defense of Jewish representation highlights the importance of cultural and religious narratives in media. As the conversation continues, both Brody and Foster have made their positions clear, contributing to a broader dialogue on the issue.
