It’s about time we bring back the ‘Skins.

The descendants of the Blackfeet chief who provided the inspiration for the iconic Washington Redskins logo are now in a fight to bring back the old name and image. Both were nixed in 2020 due to it being considered a slur.

As we all know, the modern team is the Washington Commanders, a name that we all hate.

Born on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation, Chief Two Guns White Calf inspired the franchise mascot that was created by Walter “Blackie” Wetzel in 1971 as a tribute to the chief.

“He was such a leader and he had a hold on the National Football League for 50 years,” said estate representative Morningstar Gopher.

Native American activist groups battled to remove the Redskins name and logo, however, the chief’s descendants are saying that the old logo delivers significant pride and that they want his legacy to be remembered.

“They tried to erase us, like we didn’t exist anymore,” said Kenneth Conway, lead of the estate.

But they’re here to fight, and they’re even calling for a meeting with President Donald Trump to do it.

“We’re hopeful for a meeting with President Trump in order to help get this pushed forward,” said Gopher.

When descendants of Chief Two Guns White Calf—the actual Blackfeet Nation members whose family history is tied to the iconic Redskins brand—stand up and say the legacy brought them pride, we should listen.

I’ve been preaching this for years now, and I’ll say it again: It’s time to bring back the Redskins.
