DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin criticizes sanctuary politicians for ignoring ICE operations and law enforcement attacks.

DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin criticized sanctuary politicians during an appearance on ‘Fox News Sunday,’ highlighting their silence on law enforcement attacks and ICE operations. Mullin emphasized that his agency is simply enforcing the laws passed by Congress, not making them.
ICE Shooting and Political Hypocrisy
Mullin discussed a recent incident in New York where ICE agents shot an illegal alien during a pursuit. New York Governor Kathy Hochul had previously criticized ICE for firing into vehicles, despite the individual endangering law enforcement officers. Mullin pointed out the hypocrisy of these politicians, who remained silent when an NYPD officer was stabbed seven times in the Bronx just weeks earlier.
“When the Governor, the Mayor, all these career, sanctuary politicians, not one of them said anything when their own, the NYPD officer, that was also stabbed seven times in this same neighborhood, in the Bronx, just last week. They were completely silent,” Mullin said.
Criminal Background of the Alien
Mullin detailed the extensive criminal record of Oscar Belgal, the individual involved in the shooting. Belgal, who had only been in the country for three years, had a history of felony robbery, assault, larceny, and drug charges, along with a strong gang affiliation. Mullin stated that these individuals were released by the Biden administration, despite their criminal past.
“They are out there protesting for this guy, and he’s only been in the country for three years, and he has this extensive background, and they were all three released by the Biden administration,” Mullin said.
“It’s absolutely hypocrisy, and ridiculous that they are out here trying to make something big about this,” Mullin continued.
Enforcing the Law
Mullin reiterated that ICE does not pick and choose whom to target but is dedicated to removing criminals from the streets. He criticized sanctuary states and cities for releasing individuals who pose a threat to public safety.
“We don’t make the laws. We simply enforce the laws. We don’t pick and choose, but we are out there every single day trying to keep criminals off our streets that sanctuary states and sanctuary cities release,” Mullin said.
