During a recent debate at the annual Kansas State Fair, Holscher, a current state Senator, said, ‘I am no socialist’ after Republican nominee Ty Masterson labeled her the ‘most radical liberal progressive that’s ever been on a ticket’ in Kansas. Holscher has previously called Republicans in the state ‘fascists,’ and even outgoing Gov. Laura Kelly, a Democrat, expressed concerns about Holscher’s political positioning, stating in a New York Times interview that ‘there’s no way you win just by exciting the Democrat base.’ Kelly added that a candidate needs to ‘share a lot of your values but doesn’t completely turn off the independents and the Republicans.’

The post noted, ‘We had a blast at Isaiah’s event, where over 100 people packed in to hear from him and gubernatorial candidate Cindy Holscher.’ The event highlighted Holscher’s growing ties with progressive organizations.

Republican Governor’s Association Deputy Communications Director Anna Marian Block criticized Holscher’s actions, stating, ‘Actions speak louder than words. Cindy Holscher denied being a socialist, but just one day later, she campaigned with a democratic socialist. Socialism has no place in Kansas, and Kansans will make that clear in November.’ Holscher has made several controversial comments in the race, including a now-deleted X post suggesting Jesus could have been transgender, which was reported by the Washington Examiner as a controversial statement.
