New York Residents Fear DSA’s Impact on Crime and Safety
Republican candidate Jeanine Driscoll warns of Democratic Socialists’ influence in New York’s rising crime rates.

Republican congressional candidate Jeanine Driscoll has raised concerns over the growing influence of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and its potential impact on crime and safety in New York. Speaking on Breitbart News Daily, Driscoll highlighted the worries of residents in her district, which is traditionally lean-Democrat but has seen a shift in recent years.
Driscoll’s Concerns Over DSA and Crime
Driscoll, running for Congress in New York’s 4th Congressional District, noted that while the district leans Democrat, the growing presence of the DSA is causing alarm among residents. She emphasized that the increasing number of Democrats in Nassau County, particularly in Hempstead, could tip the balance if voters adhere strictly to party lines.
“There’s more Democrats than Republicans in all of Nassau County and certainly in the town of Hempstead. Not that many more, but enough that it’s going to make a difference if everybody votes the party line,” Driscoll said. She explained that her confidence in flipping the seat comes from her strong presence in the district and the concerns of residents regarding rising crime and other issues.
Impact of DSA on Local Politics
Driscoll also criticized the Democratic Party’s decision to hold municipal elections in even-numbered years, arguing that this move was intended to weaken Republican candidates. She pointed out that the inclusion of town supervisors on the ballot alongside congressional candidates has been a strategic error, as the supervisors have consistently won.
“The Democrats changed the law. They now have the municipal elections in the even years. So there were about 20 people on the ballot this year, and I think they did that to undermine us and really weaken us, thinking they’re going to get rid of the Republicans. I think they’ve shot themselves in the foot,” she added.
Concerns Over City Issues and Taxes
Driscoll highlighted the ongoing issues in New York City, including rising crime rates, tax burdens, and the departure of large companies like Morgan Stanley. She argued that these factors are driving voters to reconsider their support for Democratic candidates.
“Right now the landscape in all of Nassau is really Republican control. So it makes no sense to me that you would have Democrats occupying these congressional seats,” Driscoll concluded, emphasizing the need for voters to reconsider their choices in the upcoming midterms.
