During an appearance on Fox Business Network’s “Big Money,” Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) addressed the tight race against Democrat nominee Adam Hamilton. According to the latest polls, the contest remains a single-digit battle, with Marshall emphasizing that gas prices are a major factor in the race’s closeness.

Marshall Attributes Race Closeness to Gas Prices

When asked why the Senate race is as close as it is, FBN host Taylor Riggs prompted Marshall to explain. Marshall responded by pointing to gas prices as the key issue.

“Well, no, I think it’s the price of gasoline. It’s that simple,” Marshall said. He added that he is not sure the race is as close as national polls suggest, noting that six years ago, he won by 11 points despite similar polling.

Marshall Criticizes Legacy Media for Neglecting Kansas Economy

Marshall also criticized the legacy media for undermining the perception of Kansas’s strong economy. He argued that despite the media’s negative coverage of President Trump, the state’s economy is actually robust.

“The legacy media has just beat the heck out of President Trump now for, what, 10 years, and despite what’s really a pretty strong economy here in Kansas, the legacy media is just telling you the sky is falling,” he said.

Marshall Highlights Strong Industries in Kansas

Looking ahead, Marshall expressed confidence in the state’s future, citing strong cattle markets, a thriving oil and gas industry, and a booming aerospace and manufacturing sector.

“We have the strongest cattle markets in my lifetime. That’s the number one business in Kansas, is the cattle industry, a strong oil and gas industry, and then our aerospace industry and manufacturing is doing great as well,” he said.

Marshall’s comments reflect a broader strategy to frame the race around economic conditions and media bias, positioning himself as a defender of Kansas’s interests against what he perceives as an overblown narrative from national media.
