Former Rep. Mike Rogers (R) is gaining momentum in the Michigan Senate race, according to a new poll conducted by the Alliance for a Better Future (ABF), first obtained by Breitbart News. The survey, conducted October 6-8, 2026, reveals Rogers leading with 46 percent support, up from 43 percent in the previous survey. Democrat Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed remains at 44 percent, giving Rogers a two-point edge in the race just weeks before the election.

AI Policy Drives Support

The survey attributes Rogers’ surge in support, in part, to his advocacy for AI security measures. ABF’s campaign, which included a seven-figure TV and digital ad push, highlighted Rogers’ stance on AI regulation. The survey notes that after voters were shown Rogers’ ad, the informed ballot shifted to 47 percent for Rogers and 45 percent for El-Sayed, aligning with the hypothetical shift observed in the September survey.

Rogers recently emphasized the importance of passing a national security framework for AI, aligning with the survey’s finding that 81 percent of voters want further federal regulation of AI. This policy focus has bolstered his standing among likely voters.

El-Sayed’s Moderate Image Under Scrutiny

Rogers has also criticized El-Sayed’s credibility, warning that the Democrat will not moderate if elected. During an appearance on The Ingraham Angle, Rogers claimed, “Every time Abdul comes out and says, ‘Well, maybe I’m kind of moderating,’ Hasan Piker says, ‘Don’t believe him. He’s lying.’ He’s not that way. This is the way he is.” Rogers also pointed to El-Sayed’s sister, a known Hamas supporter, as evidence of his ideological stance.

Despite Rogers’ lead, the RealClearPolling average shows El-Sayed still leading by an average of 2.7 percentage points, indicating a tight race as the election approaches.
