President Donald Trump delivered his closing message for the midterm elections on Monday at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C., hours before polls opened nationwide. The speech, held on the National Mall, focused on the stakes of the election and emphasized his administration’s achievements over its first 20 months in office.
Radical Threats and Political Stakes
Trump accused the Democratic Party of fielding the most extreme and dangerous slate of candidates in American history, claiming they were committed to a radical agenda that included open borders, tax hikes, gun control, and the abolition of oil and natural gas. He labeled the candidates as including jihadists, Muslim Brotherhood members, and others he described as dangerous to national security.
“We fought for 250 years to make America great. We’re not going to let it be torn down by a bunch of people that have failed everywhere they’ve been,” Trump said, warning that the ideologies behind the Democratic candidates had consistently failed.
Administration Achievements
Trump highlighted several accomplishments of his administration, including a 17-month period without any illegal border crossings from the southern border, a record-low poverty rate, and a surge in American exports. He also praised the creation of $25 trillion in wealth and the U.S. becoming the world’s largest supplier of oil and natural gas.
“The poverty rate is at an all-time record low, meaning good, best poverty rate we’ve had ever in history,” he said, adding that more people are working today than at any point in the country’s history.
Call for Voter Turnout
Trump urged the MAGA coalition that voted for him in the last presidential election to turn out in the midterms, predicting a significant Republican victory if they do. “If the people that voted for me and voted in the last election… if they go out and vote, just a good portion of them, we will win in a landslide,” he stated.
The speech underscored Trump’s focus on framing the midterms as a battle between the American people and a radical left-wing agenda, with a strong emphasis on national security and economic prosperity.
