President Donald Trump warned Texas voters not to let Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico win, vowing to hold the state accountable if he succeeds, during a high-profile get-out-the-vote rally in San Antonio on Wednesday. The event, held at the Joe Freeman Coliseum, drew thousands of supporters, with the venue nearly at full capacity and long lines of eager attendees outside.

Protests and Political Tensions

Outside the coliseum, at least 200 protesters gathered, some carrying signs critical of Trump’s immigration policies and others supporting Talarico. Many of the signs featured anti-ICE messages or unflattering images of the president. The protests were organized by the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL) and the Bexar County Democrats, both of which had been actively promoting the demonstrations on social media.

“I’ll never forgive Texas if Talarico wins,” Trump declared to the cheering crowd, urging Republican voters to maximize turnout in the state as the November election approaches. The rally was Trump’s third visit to Texas since late September, underscoring the importance he places on maintaining Republican control of key offices.

Security and Event Logistics

Law enforcement officials, including the U.S. Secret Service and local police, closed major thoroughfares around the event before Trump’s arrival. The motorcade, which included over 30 vehicles and dozens of San Antonio Police Department motorcycle officers, arrived shortly after Air Force One touched down at Kelly Field. The event, which began at 2:00 p.m., concluded with Trump addressing the crowd on the importance of defeating Democratic policies, particularly those under the Biden administration.

“If they get in, they will open your borders and let the entire world pour in like they did before,” Trump warned, describing the potential consequences of a Democratic victory as a “dirty, failing, crime-ridden third-world dumping ground.” He also criticized what he called “weak, gutless, self-hating, transgender-promoting FREAK SHOWS,” a reference to Talarico and other Democratic candidates.

Protesters Remain Peaceful

Despite the tensions, protesters and rally attendees remained separate, with law enforcement patrolling the area to ensure order. Early voting will begin on October 19 and conclude on October 30, with Election Day set for November 3.
