Democratic nominee for Wisconsin Governor David Crowley is under scrutiny after it was revealed he oversaw a $20,000 contract with a Soros-linked nonprofit focused on advancing racial justice during his tenure as Milwaukee County Executive. The Daily Caller obtained information showing that while Crowley held the position, the Milwaukee Office of Equity entered into a contract with Race Forward, an organization that has received over $2.7 million in grants from George Soros’ Open Society Foundation.

Race Forward’s Goals and Controversies

Race Forward’s stated mission is to “advance racial justice in our policies, institutions and culture.” The group has previously advocated for a “police-free world” and hosted a conference titled “Making Police Abolition Inevitable.” It has also claimed that the gender binary is “deeply rooted in fascism and authoritarianism.” These positions have drawn criticism from conservative and law enforcement groups, who argue that such rhetoric undermines public safety and traditional values.

Crowley’s Political Stance and Campaign Response

Crowley has a long history of promoting leftist racial politics and soft-on-crime policies. In 2021, he criticized golf and beer gardens as activities “predominantly supported by white users,” blaming this “racial inequity” on systemic racism. In 2019, he also signaled support for halving the prison population, a stance that has raised concerns among Republican lawmakers and law enforcement officials.

Crowley’s campaign did not respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller. Republican Wisconsin Rep. and gubernatorial nominee Tom Tiffany criticized his opponent’s track record, particularly on crime. “While David Crowley was sending taxpayer money to a group that promotes a ‘police free world,’ Wisconsin families are asking for safer streets,” Tiffany said. “My top priority as governor will be fairness, security, and empowering our police to keep our communities safe.”

Upcoming Election and Public Reaction

Crowley will face off against Tiffany in the general election on Nov. 3. The race has drawn significant attention due to the candidates’ starkly different approaches to public safety, racial justice, and economic policy. As the election approaches, the issue of how taxpayer funds are used to support organizations with controversial ideologies remains a focal point for voters and political commentators alike.
