A 26-year-old man in Wisconsin has been arrested for secretly recording women and underage girls in a Target store’s fitting rooms. Jacob Schuster, 26, faces five felony charges for capturing intimate images of individuals under 18 without consent, along with five similar counts involving adults and one misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct.

According to the complaint, Schuster used a small camera to take pictures and record women through or under fitting-room doors on Saturday and Sunday. Police reviewed store surveillance and identified at least 10 instances, including five involving girls believed to be 14 or 15 years old. The incident has sparked concern over privacy and safety in public spaces, particularly in retail environments that promote inclusive policies.

Target maintains its “inclusive” restroom and fitting room policy, allowing customers to use fitting rooms that align with their gender identity. However, this case has raised questions about how such policies can be safeguarded against misuse. Schuster admitted to using the camera to “spy on ‘attractive women’” and was arrested on Sunday. Investigators are planning to search his phone for additional evidence, and more charges could be filed if further proof is found.

The case highlights the growing issue of privacy violations in public spaces and the need for stronger measures to protect individuals from such intrusive behavior. Law enforcement and retailers are under pressure to ensure that inclusive policies do not compromise the safety and privacy of all customers.
