Sahra Noor, Omar’s sister, was questioned by agents on the same day federal authorities searched Omar’s Washington, D.C., home, Fox News reported.

Agents are examining whether Omar committed immigration fraud, including allegations that she married her brother. Noor, who is currently touring the United States to promote her book, “Salt in the Snow: A Somali Immigrant Story,” had one of her tour stops canceled last week amid the investigation.

Omar and Noor arrived in the U.S. in the 1990s after the fall of the Somali regime under dictator Siad Barre. Their father, Nur Omar Mohamed, was a high-ranking military official in Barre’s government and lived on a guarded compound. The family was granted refugee status after leaving the country during the regime’s collapse.
Scandal Ties and Business Connections
Noor is linked to the “Feeding Our Future” scam, a fraud scheme that involved billing the federal government for meals for children that were never distributed. The Daily Wire investigation found that Noor used the address of a woman who had business ties to individuals convicted in the scheme before she moved back to Kenya.
Business Ventures and Legal Concerns
In 2019, Noor founded Grit Partners Consulting, which she claims has secured over $20 million in funding for health initiatives and has consulted on projects backed by federal agencies like USAID and the CDC. However, the company was incorporated at a home in Lakeville, Minnesota, where a woman was tied to three individuals convicted in the Feeding Our Future fraud.
Investigative Focus and Family Allegations
The Daily Wire reached out to Noor for comment on the nature of her conversation with investigators. Meanwhile, the New York Post reported that federal investigators have gathered DNA evidence as part of the probe, focusing on accusations that Omar’s former husband, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, is her biological brother. Omar denies ever marrying her brother.
