A North Texas mother is facing charges of attempted capital murder after allegedly stabbing her husband and two young children in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The incident occurred at a home in the Canyon Falls area east of I-35W, according to Northlake police.
Tragic Discovery at the Home
Preliminary reports indicate that the 37-year-old woman, Holly Leeann Flores, was detained by officers shortly after they arrived at the scene. Inside the home, police found her husband, a 34-year-old man, with severe head injuries, and two children—aged 3 and 10 months—with chest wounds. All three were rushed to a Fort Worth hospital, though the children’s condition remains under review. Flores was also taken to a Denton hospital for observation and later released, before being booked into the Denton County Jail.
Charges and Previous Calls to the Home
Flores faces two counts of attempted capital murder and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Northlake Police Chief Robert Crawford stated that officers had been called to the home about five times since March, primarily for welfare concerns. The calls originated from the residence itself, though details were not disclosed.
Part of a Sad Pattern of Parental Violence
This incident is part of a troubling trend in Texas, where parents have allegedly turned on their children. Recently, a mother in Ellis County was charged with capital murder after shooting and killing her two sons, aged 21 and 15, in their home. Another case in Houston involved a mother who shot her 4-year-old daughter and then herself following a custody hearing.
