Relatives of U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar have been subpoenaed as part of an ongoing federal investigation into the Democrat congresswoman’s immigration history. The subpoenas were issued to Omar’s sister, Sahra Noor, and at least one other family member, according to reports from The New York Times.

Subpoenas and Family Background

Noor, who authored a memoir about her immigration from Somalia, also runs a Minneapolis-based consulting firm named after herself. The subpoenas come shortly after Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) raided Omar’s Washington, D.C., home on Monday, though the congresswoman herself was not personally subpoenaed.

Immigration and Financial Scrutiny

Federal investigators are reportedly examining Omar’s immigration history, including whether her late father, Nur Omar Mohamed, falsified information on immigration papers before being naturalized as a U.S. citizen. This could have made Omar a citizen at the age of 17. Possible charges include conspiracy and making false statements in immigration paperwork.

Legal and Political Response

U.S. Attorney for Washington, D.C., Jeanine Pirro, told Fox News that “there are several investigations going on” surrounding Omar in relation to her immigration status and financial disclosures. Pirro added that “if there was a crime that was committed, it will be prosecuted.”

Omar’s office criticized the raid, blaming President Donald Trump’s administration and calling it politically motivated. “This raid by Trump’s DHS is an outrageous abuse of power and an unprecedented escalation in the weaponization of federal law enforcement to target political enemies,” the office stated.

Trump and Vice President JD Vance have denied any connection to the raid. The judicial search warrant was signed by a federal judge, according to White House Border Czar Tom Homan.
