Katie Zacharia has officially confirmed her departure from the role of White House Press Secretary, stating it was an ‘honor to work for’ President Trump. Her announcement came after a series of intense media attacks and internal administration tensions that reportedly led to her decision to transition out of the position.

Zacharia released a statement on Friday evening, expressing gratitude for her time in the role. This follows a public dispute between Trump and the media, where the president criticized the mainstream press for its harsh treatment of Zacharia after her first press briefing on Tuesday.

Trump had reportedly told reporters that he had asked Zacharia to reconsider accepting the role, citing the ‘relentless abuse’ from the media. The attacks were not only external, with reports of Fox News and other outlets being particularly critical, but also internal, as some officials within the administration reportedly trashed her publicly.

Zacharia told The Gateway Pundit that she had not been fired, and the situation was more about her choosing to move on. The president had previously defended her, saying she did not deserve to be treated so ‘nastily’ by the hostile press, including Fox News.

“Katie’s been treated very badly by the media, very, very badly, very unfairly, I think, and I just spoke to her about it,” Trump said. Almost immediately after, Fox News reported that Zacharia had told Peter Doocy that she was ‘transitioning out’ of her role in the press office.

Zacharia also shared a message on X, expressing her admiration for Trump. “President Trump is a kind, wonderful, gracious, thoughtful, enthusiastic, and hardworking man. I wish more Americans appreciated him. No one will ever make America great the way he has and continues to,” she wrote.

Reports also indicate that Zacharia joined Vice President JD Vance and his family for dinner at the Naval Observatory in Washington, DC, suggesting a close working relationship and support from within the administration.
