On Friday, during an appearance on Fox News Channel’s ‘Hannity,’ Republican Congressman Mike Lawler of New York issued a strong critique of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) movement, labeling it as ‘rooted in antisemitism and Jew hatred.’ Lawler, representing a district with a significant Jewish population, emphasized the ideological underpinnings of the DSA movement during an interview with guest host Kellyanne Conway.

Lawler’s Critique of DSA

Conway asked Lawler about the core of the DSA movement, noting its purported connection to antisemitism. Lawler responded by asserting that the DSA is ‘absolutely rooted in antisemitism and Jew hatred, Marxist theory,’ adding that the group’s ideology is based on the ‘oppressed versus the oppressor’ framework. He further stated that the DSA movement harbors a deep-seated opposition to America and its foundational Judeo-Christian values, which he says are essential to the country’s Constitution and rule of law.

DSA’s Policy Agenda

Lawler outlined the DSA’s policy agenda, which he described as including the abolition of ICE, defunding the police, seizing private property, and advocating for open borders and sanctuary states. He argued that these policies represent a direct threat to American values and the current political landscape. Lawler noted that despite his district being a stronghold for Democrats, he has consistently outperformed his opponents, attributing this to the opposition from the DSA movement.

Political Context and District Performance

Lawler pointed out that his district, which is part of a region that supported President Joe Biden, has seen him consistently overperform in elections. He stated that this success is due to the resistance against the DSA’s agenda, which he claims is a significant factor in the political dynamics of the area. Lawler’s comments reflect a broader political strategy aimed at countering what he perceives as a growing threat to American values and institutions.
