Veteran Action Backs Dan Sullivan in Alaska Senate Race

Veteran Action, an organization advocating for America First policies and veteran support, has endorsed Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-AK) in Alaska’s Senate race. The group praised Sullivan for his strong advocacy for veterans, particularly in light of recent legislative efforts to improve accountability at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Support for Veteran Accountability Legislation

Sullivan, who serves on the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee (SVAC), played a key role in introducing the Protecting Regular Order (PRO) for Veterans Act. This legislation was passed in the Senate last year and aims to establish accountability measures for the VA, including quarterly in-person budget reports to Congress and withholding bonuses for senior leaders involved in budget failures.

“America’s veterans, who’ve served and sacrificed greatly for our country, deserve a Department of Veterans Affairs that is held to the highest possible standard of accountability,” Sullivan stated at the time. “The shocking budget debacle last year demonstrated that this agency is not meeting that high bar that we all expect.”

Additional Veteran Advocacy Efforts

Sullivan has also supported the ACCESS Act and the Veterans Bill of Rights, both of which aim to improve the benefits and services available to veterans. His office provided a timeline of the work done to ensure accountability at the VA, emphasizing his commitment to reform.

Mark Lucas, founder and president of Veteran Action, praised Sullivan for his leadership in veterans policy. “Veteran Action endorses Dan Sullivan because he leads from the front on veterans policy,” Lucas said. “As a Marine, he never stopped serving.”

Broader Support for Veteran Champions

This endorsement comes as Veteran Action also supports Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA) in her race, further highlighting the group’s focus on championing veterans’ interests across the country.
