Voters Demand Transparency on AI Data Centers Amid Drone Frustrations

2 min read

Louisiana Congressional candidate Stephen Wagley has voiced strong support for voter concerns over AI data center development, calling their worries ‘very valid.’ During an appearance on Breitbart News, Wagley emphasized the need for transparency and accountability from officials as they navigate the growing influence of AI infrastructure.

From Drones to Data Centers

Wagley used Amazon’s drone delivery experiments in Baton Rouge as a ‘good segue’ into the broader topic of AI data centers. He explained that while the Amazon facility has brought economic benefits, the recent surge in drone activity has caused frustration among residents. Drones, which have become more frequent and louder than expected, have raised safety concerns, with one incident involving a drone crash.

‘Everyone is scrambling to figure out who to contact to report these problems and what the rules are,’ Wagley said. He noted that officials, including local leaders, are also learning as they go, which has made the situation even more complex for residents.

Valid Concerns About Data Centers

Wagley highlighted the many questions voters have about AI data centers, including their water usage, potential for job creation, and whether they will import workers from other regions. He stressed that these concerns are legitimate, especially when there is a lack of transparency and accountability.

‘We need to know what questions to ask and get answers from them,’ Wagley said. ‘We need transparency and accountability, but it comes back to our elected officials signing these NDA’s [Non-Disclosure Agreements] bringing in these data centers.’

Call for Accountability and Transparency

Wagley concluded by reiterating that voters deserve clear information and oversight, especially as AI continues to shape the future of technology and infrastructure. He called for a more open dialogue between officials and the public to ensure that development benefits everyone without compromising safety or local interests.
