President Donald Trump has expressed deep frustration with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy over his recent decision to resume strikes on Russia’s oil refineries, which Trump called a ‘disgrace.’ The move came just days before the U.S. midterm elections, and Trump accused Zelenskyy of worsening global oil and gas prices by targeting critical infrastructure.
Strikes Amid Fuel Crisis
Zelenskyy resumed the strikes despite Trump’s earlier warnings about the global fuel crisis, according to Reuters. During an interview with Rob Finnerty of Newsmax, Trump repeatedly criticized Zelenskyy, calling him ‘not a good guy for us to deal with.’ Trump argued that the strikes are making oil prices rise and harming the world economy.
‘Now, if you tell me that Zelenskyy is again shooting at refineries, all he’s doing is making the world oil price higher,’ Trump said. ‘I think that’s a disgrace. There’s plenty of other targets. They don’t have to hit—there are a lot of targets that you can hit.’
Difficult to Deal With
Trump also admitted that dealing with Zelenskyy is more challenging than dealing with Russian President Vladimir Putin. ‘I find Zelenskyy to be more difficult to deal with than Putin,’ he said.

Zelenskyy has also been critical of Trump, with the Ukrainian leader calling European allies ‘real leaders’ during a summit in Brussels. Meanwhile, Trump’s recent deal to buy diesel from Russia has drawn bipartisan backlash, with several Senate Republicans criticizing it as a ‘gift to our adversary.’
War Settlement Criticism
Trump has also criticized Zelenskyy for not reaching a final settlement with Russia and ending the war. ‘Zelenskyy could have settled this war many times, many, many times, and he chooses not to,’ Trump told reporters.
‘He wants to make problems for the world,’ Trump said of Zelenskyy. ‘He wants to make problems for our farmers, our ranchers, with diesel fuel, because Russia supplies a large portion of the diesel fuel throughout the world.’

Despite the criticism, Trump continues to defend his decisions, claiming they are in the best interest of the American people. ‘The European Union paid Russia 250 Billion Dollars for Energy, and the Fake News Media doesn’t want to get near that story,’ he wrote on Truth Social.
